♥ Nothing to Wear

When I am having a wardrobe crisis, I can be heard uttering that most plaintive of cries ‘I have nothing to wear’.  Naturally if I peer into my closet there are umpteen sartorial possibilities, so when I use those words, what I really mean is usually one or a combination of the following.

♥ Made by Moi

I have a reasonably optimistic nature.  My glass is usually half full.  One of the side effects of this optimism is that I tend to think ‘ I could do that’. Make a dress, paint a picture, fashion a piece of jewellery – no problem.  I have in the past enrolled in classes to learn to do these things, with varying degrees of success. The life lesson from these classes has been that though most things may be easy to do, the real difficulty is in doing them well.

♥ Royal Visit

Today Queen Elizabeth accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh arrived in Ireland for a four-day state visit.  Ireland is Britain’s nearest neighbour yet it is the first time, in her almost sixty-year reign, that the powers that be have felt that conditions are right for a royal visit.

♥ Blog Accessories

You know how it is, when you get a new outfit and your mind whirrs wondering what accessories to wear with it.  I hadn’t expected the blog to be the same but no sooner was it was it newly minted when I started thinking now it could best be decorated.

♥ Editor’s manual

Two of the many things I worried about when I was setting up this blog were grammar and punctuation.  They have never been my strong points.   Regular readers  my regular reader (Hello Mum) will undoubtedly have spotted enough errors to keep a gaggle of grammarians and a myriad of punctuation sticklers  spluttering for hours.

♥ My Day

Unfortunately in some sort of changing of the meteorological guard the warm sunshine disappeared and today was greyish and overcast in these parts.

♥ Happy Easter

The weather has been glorious in these parts over the last few days, mainly warm hazy sunshine.  Today started off with a wintry chill but thankfully the sun came out to cast a glow over everything this afternoon.  The curtain call on the recent sun-bathed days has been a series of beautiful sunsets like the one below. I took the photo as the sun went down over the Wicklow Mountains on Easter Thursday evening.

♥ Royal Wedding and my hat

Naturally I haven’t been invited to the Royal Wedding, I am not disappointed, as I never expected a Royal summons in the first place.  I am sure that being at Westminster Abbey on the 29th April will be an amazing experience for the select few, there are however some downsides.  The general congregation has to pitch up at the Abbey’s North entrance between 8.15am and 8.45am and as the wedding ceremony doesn’t start until 11am that is a lot of hanging about.  Plus there is the anxiety inducing decision of what to wear and the possibility of your choice being dissed by the fashion flock section of the media.  Still the fact that I won’t be at the Abbey doesn’t mean I am in a sartorial stress free zone.

♥ Horoscopes or Hororscopes?

Certain things are in the air, they seem to float into my consciousness by osmosis. Take for instance Monday night’s full moon and the fact that Mercury is retrograde.  I cannot recall where or when I heard about either event, neither had I any idea what Mercury retrograde meant, so I had a quick look on the net. Apparently it’s an astrological concept, a period when Mercury seems to be travelling backwards and during which things are more likely to go wrong than right. Mercury is retrograde three to four times a year, the current period runs from 30th March to 23rd April.  Phew, it’s almost finished.
