Up at six to make sure that everything ran to plan on the big day, no not the royal wedding planner but my friend C who was hosting a wedding party for friends, including moi. We were seated in front of the television well in advance of the eleven o’clock start of the ceremony. C made sure we all had a glass of chilled champagne and offered around some delectable food.
We watched and watched. We loved; the colour, the pageantry, the maple trees in the Abbey, the flowers, the joie de vivre in the air, the humanity and the romance of it all. The emphatic verdict on the dress (designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen) was that it was a timeless beautiful elegant creation that suited Catherine the Royal bride to perfection. The new Duchess of Cambridge looked absolutely beautiful. After the fly past and the balcony kiss, we ate a delicious lunch (take a bow C) and were finished just in time to see Catherine and William drive to Clarence House in the gaily decorated Aston Martin belonging to his father.
The royal couple had written a prayer for their wedding it goes as follows.
“God our Father, we thank you for our families; for the love that we share and for the joy of our marriage.
In the busyness of each day keep our eyes fixed on what is real and important in life and help us to be generous with our time and love and energy.
Strengthened by our union help us to serve and comfort those who suffer. We ask this in the Spirit of Jesus Christ.”
Who wouldn’t say Amen to that.
