Air Force One touched down at Dublin Airport this morning, the President and the First Lady of The United States of America, Barack and Michelle Obama are making a short visit to Ireland.
♥ La Fontaine de Mars

On Monday the President and the First Lady of the United States of America Barack and Michelle Obama will arrive in Ireland on a brief visit. When the couple are at home in Washington they often eat out on a ‘date night’ at one of the capital’s restaurants. As they are in Ireland for a short visit, it is unlikely they will visit one of Dublin’s restaurants. Almost two years ago when they were on a trip to the French capital they ate with friends at a Parisian bistro. This was somewhat controversial at the time, as the US president, had turned down an invitation to dine at the Élysée Palace with President Nicolas Sarkozy while he was in Paris.

♥ Made by Moi

I have a reasonably optimistic nature. My glass is usually half full. One of the side effects of this optimism is that I tend to think ‘ I could do that’. Make a dress, paint a picture, fashion a piece of jewellery – no problem. I have in the past enrolled in classes to learn to do these things, with varying degrees of success. The life lesson from these classes has been that though most things may be easy to do, the real difficulty is in doing them well.

♥ Royal Visit

Today Queen Elizabeth accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh arrived in Ireland for a four-day state visit. Ireland is Britain’s nearest neighbour yet it is the first time, in her almost sixty-year reign, that the powers that be have felt that conditions are right for a royal visit.

♥ Sunday

I was working over the weekend, all day Saturday and for a few hours today. Yesterday on the way home I was feeling slightly lazy, so I stopped for a pizza and a glass of wine. The pizza was rather large and today the contemplation of all the carbs and the calories in the aforementioned pizza send me scuttling home to cook for myself. I love simple recipes; this is a Jill Dupliex one, for chorizo with sweet potatoes, I came across a couple of years ago. The quantities given will feed four people.
♥ Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc

Timing is of course everything. As I was in the South of France in early May I missed the chance to spot Cannes-going celebrities as the Film Festival only started this week. Home from home to many of the stars during festival week is The Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc.
♥ Blog Accessories

You know how it is, when you get a new outfit and your mind whirrs wondering what accessories to wear with it. I hadn’t expected the blog to be the same but no sooner was it was it newly minted when I started thinking now it could best be decorated.

♥ Picasso Museum, Antibes

The Picasso Museum in Antibes is enchanting. I was totally taken by it. The museum is in the 12th Century Château Grimaldi, a national monument that fronts the narrow cobbled streets of the old town and backs on to the Mediterranean Sea. The Château has a long history and as its name suggests the Grimaldi family of Monaco once owned it.
♥ Editor’s manual

Two of the many things I worried about when I was setting up this blog were grammar and punctuation. They have never been my strong points. Regular readers my regular reader (Hello Mum) will undoubtedly have spotted enough errors to keep a gaggle of grammarians and a myriad of punctuation sticklers spluttering for hours.
