Cornucopia is the answer; the question was where do you eat in Dublin when you are detoxing. I only discovered it a few years ago but Cornucopia has been around for a quarter of a century, starting off as a health food shop with a few tables to the back for eating at, then morphing into a café/restaurant. Cornucopia has expanded over the years and now occupies the ground floor space of two building on Wicklow Street and there are plans to open the first and second floors of the buildings, later this year, for dining, catering and arts events.

♥ Detox Days

Two things have given this weeks shopping basket a green and healthy look. Firstly when I put on a pair of my jeans, I discovered that they fitted to perfection; this was not good news. You see in the two years since I bought them, I have bemoaned the fact that I got the wrong size and that they were too loose, that is until now. Secondly my energy levels have been low and I suspected it was time to take a closer look at what I am eating and that the day had dawned for a change of direction on the food front.

♥ Sartorial Story

Once upon a time, I applied for a place on an intensive two-year jewellery skills course, run by the Craft Council of Ireland. My application, as Oscar Wilde said in an entirely different context was ‘the triumph of hope over experience’. Well, lack of experience, actually, as my only exposure to jewellery making /designing was a couple of terms at a once a week two-hour evening class.

♥ Morning Cocktail

Other people seem to have good memories. I on the other hand have a mass of fragmented facts swirling around my brain, most of which eventually spin into oblivion with just a few cascading into some form of long-term memory.

♥ Just in Case

Just in case you have an iPhone, just in case you are not one of the five million plus who have already downloaded it and just in case you have a few seconds, minutes or hours (take your pick) to spare or waste each day, I thought I would tell you about Instagram.

♥ Bits of my Week
This morning when I woke up, in those few fleeting moments betwixt dreamlike forgetfulness and full wakefulness, I realized with a jolt, that it was Sunday and yet another week had galloped by.

♥ Bloomsday: Ulysses meets Twitter

Today the 16th of June is Bloomsday. James Joyce set his modernist novel Ulysses in Dublin and all the action takes place within a twenty-four hour period on the 16th June 1904. Bloomsday celebrates the book and is named after Ulysses’s central character, Leopold Bloom.

♥ My Favourite Things//One
Bracelet: I am ultra fond of my black wrap around leather bracelet. It’s my teensy-tiny bit of Hermes. If I had unlimited funds I would buy a Kelly or a Birkin bag. I don’t, so my bracelet is as good as it gets on the Hermes front; it has the same buckle as a Kelly bag. I am not especially not at all elegant but the bracelet is, so it makes me feel more ‘dressed’ when I put it on. I wear it most days, which makes it good value on a cost per wear basis.
