So. I put learning a little about the history of art, by reading some books on the subject, on my list of things I would like to do over the next decade. So. I have over nine thousand images that I’ve taken over the past few years stored on my MacBook, and I am beginning to worry that if I don’t delete some of them soon my Macbook’s memory may implode like a dangerous building being demolished with dynamite.

Lately …
Lately, well, immediately post-Christmas, I was in the UK staying with my very good and old (in the known for a long time sense) friends A & B and their three beautiful and clever daughters one of whom I feel privileged to be godmother to, and I mustn’t forget the final member of the household the aptly named Bella the friendly family dog. There are no pictures or posts from my trip because I was too busy having a wonderful time: said time was a magical mix of some lovely things to do and relaxing interludes.

Happy Christmas: Happy Holiday
I find it hard to compute that tomorrow is Christmas day and that we will soon watch the lights fade on 2013 and a nascent 2014 flicker into life. How did this year whizz by so quickly …
I am just popping in to wish you a happy, peaceful and restful Christmas and if you don’t celebrate Christmas I wish you a happy holiday. And I hope that you have a good 2014.
Although the blog deals with the lighter side of life I am aware that Christmas can be a difficult time and if that resonates with you I would like to send you a virtual hug.
Thank you so very much for reading Just Add Attitude and I truly hope that you will continue to do so.
I am going away for a short break just after Christmas until the New Year so I’ll talk to you again in 2014.
This comes with tons of good wishes. Take care.
From B at Just Add Attitude.

Coutume Café: Coffee and Cake in Paris
‘Let them eat cake’ said Marie Antoinette. Allegedly. Allegedly, because according to Wiki and to her biographer Antonia Fraser she never uttered those immortal words.

Eilis Boyle’s Cashmere Scarves
Last Sunday I ventured into the centre of Dublin, filled with a certain amount of trepidation, because that winter festival is approaching faster than a runaway train, and I was afeared I would meet a total cacophonous crush. But thankfully no: the city was gently awash with people, traffic whistled by, and Christmas lights twinkled but all in a pleasantly busy and festive-y way.

Breakfast in Paris: Le Café Marly
I was in Paris for a few days towards the end of November. The night before I went, as per, I waged a duel between the desire to sleep and the worry that if I did, I might not hear my alarm pinging, in the small hours, and as a result miss my flight. While I was tossing and turning I was running through a mental list of things to do and places to see when I got to Paris: wondering which museum to visit and musing over the more mundane question of where to have breakfast.

Irish Craft Portfolio Exhibition
Note: Apologies for the poor quality of some of the images, I am not sure what I did wrong!
I love craft in its very many incarnations: so, it was as sure as the tide going in and out that I would go to see an exhibition at the RHA (Royal Hibernian Academy), put together by the Craft Council of Ireland, to showcase the work of Ireland’s top makers.

In Which I Aim For a Healthier Lifestyle
I returned from my recent trip to the Mayr and More Health Centre in Austria fired with enthusiasm for leading a healthier life. Not that my lifestyle pre my visit to Austria was insanely unhealthy but I felt there was room for improvement.

Makers & Brothers & Others
I don’t doubt that, half a century hence, when someone sits down to write the annals of design in Ireland in the early part of the twenty-first century that the names of Jonathan and Mark Legge will be writ large in that history.
